Signal is important in supporting communication facilities. No matter how good the cellphone is, if the signal is weak, it will certainly interfere with our comfort in communicating. Sometimes in certain places the cellphone signal is less than optimal, this causes when used to call usually the sound is broken. In one house, the signal strength will usually be different in each room. For the purposes of communication using the telephone, of course, we need an adequate signal so that the sound does not break up. While the signal display on the front display of the smartphone only shows a bar-shaped signal bar, so it is less accurate to know the signal strength.

The signal strength itself can be affected by how far the distance is from the transmitter (BTS) and obstacles that can affect the signal strength, such as concrete buildings, trees or hills. To find out the signal strength more accurately on Android phones, we don't need to add more software, just use the built-in facilities of android smartphones. The trick is:<\/div>\n

  1. Enter menu Setting,<\/b><\/li>\n
  2. then select About Phone<\/b><\/li>\n
  3. then select Status<\/b><\/li>\n
  4. Choose  SIM Card Status, <\/b>then the display will be as shown below\n
  5. \n
    The signal strength shows -91 dBm 11 asu (the lower the dBm number, the better the signal strength, so -71 dBm is better than -91 dBm). For ASU (Arbitrary Strength Unit), the larger the number the better the signal strength.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    The formula used to calculate the signal strength in dBm is <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
    dBm = 2 \u00d7 ASU - 113 <\/span><\/div>\n
    (<\/span>ASU in numbers 0..31 and 99 (for unknown or undetectable sinal).<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
    in the example in the image above dBm=2 x 11 - 113= -91 dBm<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
