Power Supply is one of the most important components for the longevity of a computer, but most users overlook the selection of a quality power supply. Funds for computer purchases are more intended to upgrade other components.<\/div>\n

In fact, most computer stores do not even bother to use a quality power supply on their assembled computers. Maybe this is done to reduce the price, so that it looks cheaper in the eyes of consumers.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
While many consumers are not aware of importance of power supply<\/a> for the reliability of a computer. As a result, even a high-specification computer has only been a short time already often error and damaged. Here we present some tips on choosing a quality power supply<\/div>\n

Tips for choosing a quality power supply<\/h3>\n

1. Choose the power according to your needs<\/b><\/h4>\n
Before buying a power supply we must know first how much power needs for our computer, the more pheriperal installed of course requires more power, different types of VGA, processor, hard drive and other components of course also different power required. To estimate how much power supply power needs, can be checked online using psu calculator<\/a> .<\/div>\n

It's good to buy a PSU with more power than your PC needs, for later consideration if there is an additional hard drive or upgrade your VGA with a better VGA. But if our computer specifications are only for office needs (office applications) only, and it is sure there will be no additional pheriperal that requires a large power, it would be redundant also if the Power Supply that we buy has excess power.<\/div>\n

While the power requirement for computer specifications for office needs is estimated to be no more than 200 Watts. Please note that the use of power supply power is adjusted to the needs of the computer. For example, our Power Supply is 500 W, while our computer power requirements are 200 watts, of course the power used is only 200 watts according to the computer's power requirements.<\/div>\n

2. True Power (pure)<\/b><\/h4>\n
What is meant by True Power (pure) here is that the power supply power capability is in accordance with what is on the label. For example 300 watts Pure, means the power generated is really 300 W. If the power supply built into the case or the price is cheap (fake) written 450 W, 500 W, even more, but in fact the power is not up to that. If you're short on power, your computer will often restart, hang, or not even start up.<\/div>\n

3. Have 80 plus certification<\/b><\/h4>\n
The 80 plus certification is a standardization for power supplies that have more than 80% efficiency. What is meant by efficiency here is the ratio of comparing the output power produced divided by the input.<\/div>\n

Example: PSU A efficiency at 200 W power= 75%<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0PSU B efficiency at 200 W power= 85%<\/div>\n

Then the calculation of Input power taken from PLN electricity<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0PSU A 200W\/ 75% =266 W<\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0PSU B 200W\/ 85% = 235 W<\/div>\n

from the above results it can be concluded that power supply B which has a greater efficiency, uses less input power from PLN. So a power supply that has an efficiency of 80% will be more efficient in the use of electricity. Because not much electrical energy is wasted into heat. However, power supply that has 80 plus certification is also not a guarantee that the power supply is good, but at least more efficient in electricity usage.<\/div>\n

So some tips on choosing a good power supply, consider using a good power supply so that the life of your computer can be longer.<\/p>\n
