SD Insight, an Android App to Check Micro SD Authenticity

Micro SD is a storage medium with a very small and practical size, besides that it is also resistant to slams and shocks. Because of these advantages, micro SD is widely used for external storage media for mobile devices, both cellphones, smartphones or tablets. 

Some well-known vendors that are widely circulated in Indonesia are Samsung, Sandisk, V-gen, Kingstons, Toshiba etc. These vendors issue various size series, ranging from 2 Giga to 128 Giga and will continue to grow along with technological advances. To buy a micro SD as an external storage medium, we must also pay attention to the capabilities of our mobile device, what is the maximum size of the micro SD card that can be supported.

To choose a micro SD, we also have to be careful, because there are currently fake micro SDs circulating that counterfeit products from several well-known vendors. Usually this micro SD is sold at a cheaper price. To check the authenticity of micro SD, we can use an android application called SD Insight. You can search for this application in PlayStore by typing the keyword "SD Insight". By searching using these keywords, you will also find several similar applications, for the application that I will discuss this time is made by HumanLogic.

Once you have installed the application, it will display information about the manufacturer, size and date the micro SD was created. To find out more details, click on the eye picture on the top right. 

Please note that this description of the manufacturer is not necessarily the vendor of the micro SD. However, it displays the chipset manufacturer of the micro SD. Usually well-known brands take chipsets from other manufacturers and are labeled by the vendor. So it could be that your micro SD is branded kingstons but the manufacturer is displayed sandisk. This does not mean your Micro SD is fake. It is also possible that the manufacturer will be shown as "Unknown". An "Unknown" reading does not mean that the micro SD card is counterfeit, but rather that the card is made by a brand or manufacturer that is not currently identified in the SD Insight app.
