For a video editor, you will often deal with music, backsounds and soundtracks to complement and add a certain feel to the video you are making. With the presence of certain music, backsound and soundtrack, it will be able to bring people who watch the video or movie we make into the atmosphere we want.

If we apply the wrong music, backsound or soundtrack, the feel we want from the video or movie will also change. For example, a sad story, if filled with rock music with a high beat, of course, the sad atmosphere cannot be obtained from the video we make.

Nowadays, there are many sites to store and publish videos online. However, some of these sites such as YouTube and Vimeo have strict policies on the use of copyright. If we use music, backsound or soundtrack that has a license or copyright then our video will be deleted or muted.

Even worse, our account will be blacklisted by the video service provider. Therefore, we should use free licensed music so that we are safe from blacklisting the videos we make. Some sites provide free licensed music, backsounds and soundtracks to use in our videos.

Free Licensed Music, Backsound and Soundtrack Provider Site:

1. BenSound

BenSound.com is a free licensed music provider site. We can download and use the music on this site, the condition is that we must include credit in our videos that we make. We can use it on videos uploaded on YouTube by including credit in the form of a link to the BenSound site in the video description.

Example of credit usage: "Music: http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music or "Music: Song Title - Bensound.com". In addition to free music, this site also provides licensed music or we have to pay to use the music in our videos. The free version of the music is already cool!!! let alone the paid one!! 😀

2. Youtube Audio Library

Now youtube also provides facilities to download music and use it in our videos, called youtube Audio Library. This is one of my favorites that I often use today. In the Youtube audio library, there is already information about the copyright / license of the song.

3. In evantile

Evantile is also a provider of cool music backsounds that can be downloaded for free. The advantage of this site is that there is already information about the feel of the song. For example: cinematic, epic, action, full orchestra, foreboding, middle tempo. So we can easily choose music according to the feel of the movie we are making. We can also listen to (preview) the music before we download it.

However De Avantile does not provide detailed information about the music license, so my experience when I uploaded the video on YouTube, it turned out that the copyright owner monetized the music. So when our video is played, ads appear that have been monetized by the copyright owner. The impact is that we cannot monetize the videos we make using songs on this site.

4. Freesoundtrackmusic.com

All music on this website can be used with a free license in movies, video games, YouTube videos or other digital multimedia productions. Music or songs that have the label "FREE" can be used without incurring license fees provided that the composer and the URL (web address) of this website are included in the "credits" of our video or film production as described in the license terms.

Music or songs that have a status of "1 credit" are licensed through the purchase of download credits.

Notes: Music downloaded from this site may not be used as part of an audio-only production, or sold or published separately from your video, film or multimedia production without authorization from the composer of this song.

5. Freemusicarchive.org

Freemusicarchive.org provides a variety of music with a free license. We can choose by music genre, such as Blues, Classical, Country, Electronic, Experimental, Folk, Jazz, Old-Time/Historic, Pop, Rock Soul-RnB or Spoken. To download music on this site, please note the license information on the music or song.
