CastraLinux OS, the Pride Operating System of SMA N 1 Pati
Using a Linux-based Open Source operating system is a smart choice in the world of education, besides not needing to spend a budget for purchasing an operating system, Linux is also more stable and safe from viruses than the Windows operating system. Another advantage is that Linux is developed by all programmers around the world, so if there is a bug, it will be fixed immediately.
The government itself has organized the Indonesia Go Open Source (IGOS) movement which is a spirit of movement to increase the use and development of open source software in Indonesia. IGOS was declared on June 30, 2004 by 5 ministries, namely the Ministry of Research and Technology, the Ministry of Communication and Information, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Ministry of Administrative Reform and the Ministry of National Education. Unfortunately, the bureaucratic system in Indonesia may have too many interests, so this movement did not run smoothly. Even in 2011 Minister of National Education signs partnership agreement with microsoftThis is clearly out of sync with the IGOS program that was previously declared by the Ministry of National Education.
Education should be teaching the right things to its students, not teaching them to use pirated software. Castra Open Source Community (COSC) developed an operating system called CastraLinux OS (Operating System). CastraLinux OS itself is a derivative of the very popular linux distro, Ubuntu. Ubuntu is free to be developed into new linux distros without violating copyright.
